Biochemistry or Pharmacology major? I am a second year student at University of California Santa Barbara. I am right now taking all the Lower division classes for all the biochemistry/biology majors. I am just stuck on choosing either biochemistry or pharmacology as my major. I kinda want to try to apply for pharmacy school when i graduate but I don't know if I will succeed since so far my GPA is about 3.15. Pharmacology seems like have more units requirement and the biochem seems like I have to take more chemistry such as Physical chemistry. bachelors of biochemistry or medical technology program? Should I major in Anthropology or Biochemistry? Currently I'm in the process of deciding on what college I might want to apply to and I'm trying to decide on the basis of the what I want to major in. I know for sure that I want to have a double major with one of my majors being Psychology; however, I can't decide whether I want to have my other major in Biochemistry or Anthropology. I've only had a little bit of biochemistry in my AP biology class, but I've had zero anthropology, except for the ocasional overlaps in history, english, and psychology. What little I've had of both I've liked: the labs and chemistry in biochemistry; the myths, social theories, and evolutionary origins in anthropology. Could anyone share their experiences with these subjects? Which ever major I choose, I want to further my education in and get an advanced degree in that area from a forensics perspective. I want to eventually work for the FBI as a special agent in their violent crimes division. Could you please take this into consideration when determining which you think would be more beneficial and practical? Thanks.
Major in biology or biochemistry? I'm having trouble picking one.. I would prefer biochemistry because you can do more with a biochem major than with a bio major (I want to go to medical school, but I have making a backup plan if I happen to not get in), but biochemistry has too many classes that I don't want to take.... What should I do?

Biochemistry as pre-med major? I'm applying to univeristy this year so it's about time for me to start thinking about my perspective major and career routes. Right now, I'm totally fascinated by biochemistry but moreso by medicine and the idea of someday practicing medicine. But a college counsellor told me that biochem is a pretty difficult major and I'd be better off with an easier major like general bio or chem or even music and get a higher gpa. But I'd really like to study biochemistry for some reason. Is biochem really that hard and is it relevant to medicine? How's the career perspect for someone with a degree in biochem? Is the pay good? Would it be higher than that of a chemistry major(my second choice)? Biology major(3rd choice)?
Bioengineering vs. Biochemistry? Help Major? I am filling out my application for college right now, and I was wondering what the major differences between bioengineering and biochemistry are? Double majoring in Biology and Biochemistry and minoring in Psychology..wise choice for medical school? I'm a freshman in Stony Brook University, I'm deciding whether to transfer out to a better school, or staying in Stony. If I stay in stony, i'm thinking of doing a double major in biology and biochemistry with a minor in psychology. I already know the rigors that I'm in for, but what i really want to know is if I should major in biology and biochemistry or just one of the two since they are both so similar. Would medical schools care if I double majored in these two areas or not? ok whoops, it turns out that my school only offers psychology as a major not a minor. I'm not sure what to minor in now...but I definitely would like to minor in something

Hiragana for "I specialize in Biochemistry", using -masu verb form (2 parts)? I entered in "I specialize in Biochemistry" in online translation tools, but they return words in Kanji characters where applicable, and I don't have a dictionary yet. Sample result: 私は生物化学を専門にする I can read "わたしは" and the next 4 Kanji equal "Biochemistry", and it looks like the rest might mean 'specialize', but I need to -- 1. know the hiragana for the entire sentence, and with the dictionary form of the verb converted to -ますform. 2. know whether I should turn it into a continuous -て いますverb form part 1 is the main question, part 2 would be nice to know
SUNY Colleges: Biochemistry? I'm going to attend a SUNY college (state university of new york college) and I'm going to major in Biochemistry. I was wondering if I had to take the 'core classes', classes required by some majors and not required by others. Like for example English or something, something not really related to my major. I'm wondering this now because I'm debating whether or not I should take AP English my senior year of high school. I figure I don't need to if my major allows me to skip the core classes. Please and thanks in advance.
Has anyone studied biochemistry? Im thinking of studying biochemistry at university. Taking Biochemistry and Physics as a premed sophomore? I am a sophomore premed student studying integrative biology. I am planning to take biochemistry which is now one of the requirements for med and dental schools, and this course starts with a digit of 4 meaning that it's generally for juniors or seniors, and it's taught in medical school. I am also trying to take physics I, which is probably sophomore level for engineers and premeds. During my last summer term, I challenged myself to fast track and finished organic chem 1 and 2 in a single term with straight As by investing every energy and dedication I had. I am willing to do this once again. However, I am still afraid that such course load could overwhelm me, and I might not be able to make As though I did my best. Is biochemistry harder than organic chemistry? Do you think I should challenge myself and kick some a.s.s.? or make a modest movement by taking either biochem or physics alone and wait for the next term?
A hybrid biochemistry? Silicon interacting with Carbon... Is it possible? First of all, This is a sci-fi question. I am trying to design an alien planet. Now, I know some of the most common pitfalls for making alien life-forms based on Silicon rather than carbon. First, we have the temperature, then the strength of Si-Si bonds and Si-O bonds v/s their carbon analogues, etc. But, what about a hybrid biochemistry? Do you think it's possible? I was thinking of using the "Sulfuric acid planet" scenario. For obvious reasons I cannot place Carbon-based life here, and all I really require are photosynthetic organisms. So, do you think it'd be possible to have hybrid organisms? Basically, Carbon is still the basis of the biochemistry but Silicone(Yes, S-O) plays a fundamental structural role, mostly to shield the organism from the harsh environment outside. Do you think this would work? Additionally, if you like the idea, could you help me with temperature ranges for commonly used/simple Siloxanes?
interested in biochemistry, molecular biology, or microbiology? I was thinking about going back to school to get another degree, in biochemistry. I was wondering if you might know of some good books to get that the layperson would understand. I saw your response on that "junk DNA" question and thought i'd ask you. I would like to figure out whether biochemistry, molecular biology, or microbiology are for me before i invest alot of time and money.
Should I major in Biochemistry or Biotechnology? I am looking to possibly go into forensic science after graduating undergrad. Should I go into Biochemistry or biotechnology? Should I major Biology with a minor in Chemistry. None of the schools near me have a good forensic science program yet. What should I do?
What is Biochemistry?? I'm going to school right now to be an optometrist and my declared major right now is Biochemistry. I start in the fall and I just would like to know exactly what biochemistry is ... I picked it because it was reccomended to me by my test scores and grades by my academic advisor, but I have no idea exactly what it is. Also, would it prepare me to take the OAT and go to optometry school?
I need to know what i can do with a Biochemistry major and work with chemistry at UC Davis, please read on!? I am getting a Major in Biochemistry. I am transfering to UC Davis to start my upper division in a relatively short amount of time, but I am trying to decide my career path. I love chemistry, and at my school, biochemistry is one of two chemistry degrees. In other colleges, it can sometimes be a biology degree. I preer chemistry to biology, but they are both good, but i really do like chemistry. I thought for a while of going into pharmeceutical research (pharmacology?) but I am very confused. I like organic chemistry in particular. I dont know what I should look into, and I dont know what I want to do, but I need to know what a degree in Biochemistry will let me into, especially programs at UCD with my chosen major, and I simply dont know how to find that information, especially in one place. If you have thoughts or know where to find that info, please tell me, I am very concerned for my future.
